Yes, you read that right. Idris Elba, the actor famed for his role as Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad, Heimdall in MCU’s Norse universe, and Marshall Stacker Pentecost from Pacific Rim, is going to be part of V’s journey, alongside Keanu Reeves, who is reprising his role as the rocker boy Johnny Silverhand. In Phantom Liberty, Elba plays the character Solomon Reed, an FIA agent working for the New United States of America. As of its unveiling at the Game Awards’ world premiere, Phantom Liberty still hasn’t received an official launch date, with CDPR simply stating that the expansion will be arriving in 2023. That being said, earlier reports have suggested that we could see it launch sometime within the second half of next year but again, that’s all just hearsay at this stage. For that matter, there are still no details as to the premise of Phantom Liberty, nor any information about the capacity of Elba’s character’s role in-game, along with how the New United States of America will affect the base world of Cyberpunk 2077. In fact, the only detail we do know about it is that the expansion will somehow take place within the confines of the area of Pacifica, a derelict part of Night City that was once earmarked for development, but fell to ruin after several financial incidences, and is now home to gangs like the Voodoo Boys.
