Apple is expected to announce Reality Headset Pro at WWDC but it will not be available readily, as per multiple reports. 9to5Mac writes that Reality Pro demos will be hard to get even when it is released for sale. But, Apple can adopt the original gold Apple Watch route which required in-store appointments to experience the product personally.
How will Apple demo Reality Pro headset?
First things first, the Apple Reality Pro headset isn’t releasing just yet. At WWDC, we will only see a glimpse of the product along with its top features. The developers present in Apple Park for the event will be able to get their hands on the headset. And, general users will have to wait for the public demo until it launches toward the end of the year. Even when it will be available for sale, demoing the headset will not be as easy as going to an Apple Store and using the new MacBook or iPhone before you buy it. Apple will likely introduce an appointment system for the demo purpose. This is likely to happen as Apple would like to maintain the hype for its new age product and not allow everyone to experience the AR/VR headset like it allows demos for its other products. Moreover, Reality Pro is expected to be launched at a hefty price of $3,000 and Apple is not expecting a huge number of shipments. Therefore, it would not make sense to keep demo units at every Apple Store. Another reason why demo appointments would be the best to go about it is the nature of the product. Reality Pro is an AR/VR headset and users will require space and time to experience its full potential. It would not be possible to immerse oneself in AR/VR experience around a crowd. Apple offered hour-long private demos and try-on sessions for its original gold Apple Watch which was released in 2015 and carried a price tag of around $10,000. The Cupertino-based company could adopt a similar approach for the headset this time. With special arrangements to be made for the demo of the product, it is very likely that getting an in-store appointment will be difficult initially.
